I just bought this 120g tank.

I want to set it up with a sump and use the existing plumbing.

The PO said that it was set up for a wavemaker and that is why there is a compartment on the end?

its 5" wide and 19" deep

the tank itself is 72" wide 19" deep and 19" high.

is there any point in keeping this compartment or can i remove it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!8936

Very hard to see by the way the shot was taken, side shot and the side with the plumbing would definately help!

Depends on where the bulkhead fittings are for your overflow

Looks like two bulkhead fittings behind the plastic overflow barrier
The lower one is your drain to sump the upper one u can plumb into drain incase one gets plugged up. Have your return pump line retun water to the otherside of you tank so it flow accross.

depends on how high your tank sits above the floor and how much flow you want. I have a pump rated at 1090gph on my 35, but run it at about 1/2 right now until I put in sps. you will probably want a good amount of GPH for a larger tank IMO. but I could be wrong.

you want about 5x display volume going threw your sump. so 600gph after head loss.
