View Full Version : Can't ID baby shrimp

Thing is sooo hard to see as it's only about 1/8".
I don't think it's a Mantis as I don't see any rear 'legs', although it does swim with it's claws tucked under. All I see are black eyes and a transparent body at this point.
It has 4 antennae and a split tail, like a typical food prawn/shrimp.
Guess it could be anything at this point, huh?
Sure would be nice to get a worth-while hitchhiker :smile:

Do you mean amphipod? You and I are anthropods :mrgreen:
No, definately not an amphipod. It doesn't curl up and is long and slender.
It looks something like the one in this photo I found on the web

Live mysis shrimp? Amphipod? If it`s not either of those I don`t think I would leave it in my tank...

It's in the rubbermaid right now. I'm hoping it will grow before I set up the 75g so I can get a better look.
