Well here is my thoughts;
I have heard many bad stories and talked to a few people first hand that had their Aquagiant tanks break or explode.
This is not a place a would pick to save a few dollars, everything else relies on the strength of the tank. Not to mention changing a tank at a later date is a huge job, totally not worth it.
If you want a custom tank try Dave at Concept Aquatics http://www.conceptaquatics.ca/ there is several threads on here about Dave and his great work.

I personally own 12 custom aquagiant tanks - 90 gallon custom sizes.
so far, I haven't had any problems with them.
I am sure that there are horror stories out there about most tank companies if they have been around long enough.
I think you should be fine.

My custom sump is fine.

Any tank can leak or crack.

I had a aqua giant 180 with curved glass. Exploded the day after I filled it. 😡

I was gonna say that I thought the problems they were having was with the curved tanks.
apparently, in one case that is so.

I guess I should add that the tanks that I heard about first hand were the curved glass tanks.

I think the glass gets week when it's heated and cooled improperly

Bowfront is one tank I personally wouldn't buy myself. They do look nice but I have heard too many problems with them and even store bought manufactured bowfront tanks included!

The tank I ordered is 60" X 24" X 30" high with the Chinese version of Starphire glas on 3 sides, and in 5/8" / 16mm thick glass, and David is going to the assembly, gluing and drilling the sump here. So it's 187 gallons, my first reef tank, and will use a 75 gallon sump underneath. So i'm glad, majority of you people didn't have horror stories other than the person with the bow front.

As long as they use 5/8" which is close to 16mm and not 5/16" it should be good. Good luck with the future reef!

I have 240 gallon Aqua giant strait glass been running for over 4-5 years without any problem. Make sure u check there's no fine bubble show or appear on the silicon where both glasses joint.

Yah I bought a 40 gal for my sump and on the 2nd day running it sprang a leak. Almost everything I have purchased from their has broke pretty fast. If there is one thing I have learned in this hobby, its that you get what you pay for. I enjoy paying more money knowing that I have purchased a superior product and that I wont be replacing the item in the near future.

going with a chinese version of any glass is definitely a wise choice

I learnt real quick in this hobby you definately get what you pay for and chinese products are some of the worst on the market. I will stick with quality German, US and Austrailian products myself
