I tried to go for more of an "open ocean" aquascape. Kinda inspired by lobsterboy's old tank. Crappy Iphone pics though.

None of the above are mine.

I'm looking for ideas for my own aqua scaping.

So far I like the second one.

I like that one too, but I really like separate structures, like 2-3 islands with caves or bridges kinda thing

I don't have a photo to post, but I really like the shallow tank with the volcano coming out of it. Remember following that build thread on RC a while back. IIRC, he actually has some species of crab that regularly bask on the surface. Quite amazing. Have yet to see anything like it.

Hey Grip, In your OP, where did you get the pic for the second to last photo? That's a really compelling design, I'm thinking I want something just like that

I just redid my aquascape, I like how it turned out, however I feel it would work better in a 72inch tank.

Please excuse the iphone pic

Yeah I love the separate "islands" or penninsula look but I see what you mean, it would be nice if it was spread out a bit more would making 3 stacks make any difference? I love the scape BTW :)

Thank you very much

I might be pulling out a single rock island, but leaving the four stacks. You really can't see what I mean in the photo.

But I'm planning too upgrade "hopefully" by this time next year, to at least a 6 footer. Which will be much better.

Not meaning to rag on you but, those fish do not belong in a tank that small :mrgreen:

I think your 'scape looks just great
Like all the rest of us, do I keep it ? Does it look good?
Point is, you did a great job and do YOU like it?
It would look fabulous in MY tank

And what size is your tank anyway...
I'm buying a 75g and think your 'scape makes your tank look big

G'night...gotta rip out some more old carpet/underlay and screw the floors down before the installers show up.
Loving all the pictures...good way to keep my Wife involved

Mine is a 52inch long 120ish gallons. I really want a six footer but I'm limited by the room size. I find that all fish (mine at least) generally do not swim in the top 25%. So it seems like alot of wasted space. And it would look better with a shallower tank.

if I had the front to back depth would go with the trench idea

I tried the trench idea, but corals grew into my trench

That's the one, even the larger picture was helpful! I've got about 34 inches front to back so I'm going to try something like that I think, thanks!

Laurie the cube looks stellar! Really like the arch idea, here are a few shots of the different modes of scaping I have gone through:

Arches to start:

Triple islands:
http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/3614/img0545i.jpg (http://img838.imageshack.us/i/img0545i.jpg/)

Back to the arches:
http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/8853/img2229u.jpg (http://img88.imageshack.us/i/img2229u.jpg/)

Current aquascape:
http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/5049/mg5009v.jpg (http://img263.imageshack.us/i/mg5009v.jpg/)

http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/2520/img4326rc.jpg (http://img12.imageshack.us/i/img4326rc.jpg/)

Me thinks I have a rearrangement problem , there also happens to be two owners to this tank though so lots of opinion battles are played out in the aquascape.

Gripenfelter, thanks for posting the whole photo of that trench aquascape...that has to be one of my top 3 favs, maybe best ever! Really, that one is awesome.

This is one of my saved favourites on my puter (I don't like the coral placement, but like the rocks):
