I'm setting up a new tank with a 3'x2' footprint and 20" tall. I have never tried an MP40 so depending on rock placement would one of these units be enough along with the return pump?

I guess I should mention that this tank won't have any SPS in it. I just want enough water movement for nutrient export and to the keep the rocks clean.

I only have one and it's 48" x 24" x 24".
Try one first and see.

The wife wasn't happy when I told her $900 for 2 AI sols and controller, I may have to use my koralias for now until she forgets about the lights.

I think you posted this in the wrong spot but on a lightly stocked tank you would be pushing this skimmer to it's maximum. With a medium to heavy bio load, I would look for something else.

depends what your keeping in your tank.. i have a 36x18 and i thought 2 mp10s were enough then i put a big ugly new MJ pro in with them and all the sps seem happy but some of the lps had to be moved around. i should have just got mp40's to start heh

I think having two mp40 will do a better job of this. I am currently running 1 mp60 and 1 mp40 in my 90 gallon and planning to run another mp40 once I get my 120 gallon up and running.
