Anyone on here that is running around 30 gallon nano cube sps reef tank without a sump? I have a 29 gallon nano cube that I wanna turn into a sps and some lps tank . I was wondering with good husbandry and maintenance if its do- able to make it a sps tank without a sump. And if anyone in jere that has done it could give some pointers. Which nano skimmer , pump, and filtration to use for the internal 3 chambers
Tnx

Frequent water changes (5%/week or 10-15%/two weeks) and a decent skimmer like the Tunze 9002 would definitely allow for a thriving SPS-dominant mixed tank.

The right light and some good flow, and you'll be fine. Tunze 9002 with the SetvieT media rack are always a good idea. You can add floss at the top, then Carbon and/or GFO, and then Cheato in a fuge. Works well.

What lighting do you have for it? That will be a big part of an SPS tank.

This is more of a challenge than a larger tank and experience will definitely help. I wouldnt recommend it to someone unless they are pretty knowledgeable with SPS.

im gonna run 2 tunez powerheads on it, then getting the tunez 9002 ( since alot of people are recommending it) would the skimmer fit in the chamber tho?

other then LR was wondering what internal filtration i should have as i want carbon and phosphate in there. and maybe have a HOB fuge like you said.

lightings i will be using is most likely going to be 1 x radion

sorry but whats a SetvieT media rack lol
most likely gonna add a surface skimmer too as well.
any recommends on a HOB fuge? tnx

as for exp and husbandry Im pretty confidence that i can run a sps tank in a 29g as i am running a stocked 10g reef tank for a year now with crappy lights ( and 10g is hella small)

was just wondering what brand and equipments are worth it for my build

Tunze makes a new osmolator with adjustable ATO pump speed, perfect for smaller systems...

I've got the BioCube29 with the Tunze ATO and 9002 Skimmer SPS dominated. I'm using 2 Tunze 6015's for extra flow and running a Maxi-Jet 1200 for the main pump. It's a little overkill for flow, but if you aim the Tunze's in the right places, the sand stays put.

I'd suggest running LED's to be successful for SPS. I'm using 2 Vertex Illumilux Marino Bianco (7K White/453nm Blue) and I just added 2 Ecoxotic Panorama PRO LED (12K White/445nm Blue) fixtures also. I'm still light acclimating my SPS right now, but so far I'm seeing good growth.

I am currently running ZEO on the tank, but will be switching to Bio-Pellets tonight. Just got annoyed with shaking up the TLF Reactor, I even tried putting an Eheim 1000 pump with a gate valve to use full blast instead of shaking. It works quite well, but I was still getting a bit of build up of mulm inside the TLF Reactor. With the Bio-Pellets, no more SHAKING, and way LESS maintenance!

I'm also using the StevieT/inTank Media Basket with floss, Chemi-Pure Elite, and RowaPhos.

If you're going to get the Tunze 9002 Skimmer, I'd definitely recommend getting the StevieT upgrade cup!

I run a 10 gallon sumpless system which is shared between sps and lps. I do 60 percent water changes to upkeep my calc, alk, and mag to respectable levels. I run a skimmer, macro algae, vodka dose, and run GFO to reduce phos and nitrates. A 30 gallon should be manageable without a sump if you are willing to put the effort in, sps are quite demanding!

Heres my link you can see the type of equipment and maintenance I do/use
