Have had my system up and running for just over a few years now, and have learned tons along the way..sooo much to know. I have a question re: feeding my corals. I have a 150 gallon reef tank with 15 fish (tangs, damsels and chromis's mainly) with about 15 species of mixed SPS, LPS and softy corals. I was feeding them weekly on Reef Roids and/or Coral Frenzy, but recently have been using (twice weekly) a product called 'Reef snow' followed up by Kent's Phytomax and then Zoomax -- all just after lights out.

Corals appear to be doing fine, but hard to tell if this is the correct diet for them, or not. Any advice is appreciated.

I've never fed my corals directly, and my results have been fine. I think with a high fish load and decent feeding of those fish provide plenty for the corals to feed on.

Hey, Aquattro, do you have SPS? Just wondering, as I have a high bioload also.

HMMMMM... Maybe don't add extra coral food, and I can have things color up even better. Your thoughts?

Ya, my tank is SPS dominated, with one large frogspawn. I've experimented in previous tanks, feeding various coral foods, and found that I would only see an occasional polyp actually grab and consume anything. And I neded up with more brown than anything. I also near starved my fish trying to keep nutrients low.

This time around, I decided I should be fair to the fish and keep them really fat. I feed twice a day and as a side benefit, I have more colorful corals than I've ever had in 10 years.

I do use zeo (reactor and supps) but I often forget to dose and shake for a month or more, and the colors don't change.

Thanks, something to think about. Maybe try that out, and see what happens.
