clowns

i have a true ocellaris clown i believe and what i was told is a percula clown i believe they have been in the same tank about a week and still pick on each other. there about the same size and they do this shimmer thing to eacother what is going on with them ?

temp is 79 and salinity is 1.023 i think i should raise my salinity a bit ?

Corals prefer full strength salinity. Fish only tanks can get away with lower salinity.

I assume they are still quite young? if so then it is totally normal for them to behave like that as they are establishing dominance. The dominant fish will most likely become the female and the submissive fish will be the male. There is no garantee that they will form a couple but if one is submitting to the other there are good chances.

Problem arise when you buy them already old and they are both females, then female once always female and they will always fight.

The shimmer dance is a sign of submission and the one doing it is generaly the male. Good luck :)

I am not 100% sure but I think yes they can mate.
