Just because it hasn't extended its polyps, it doesn't mean it's sick or dying. They are able to photosynthesize via the algae in their skin. My sinularia does the old shriveling trick if something is bothering it (any pestering fish or nearby corals) or if it's doing this weird "molting" thing where it shrivels up and slimes a lot for a while before perking back up.'it'll do this if you have recently added it. Don't panic just yet, just give it some time.

I have also found iodine to help with this issue but this purely anecdotal and I haven't found any scientific evidence to confirm it yet.

I had a piece of Sinularia that I couldn't get a good spot for for a few months and it was fine, stayed closed for probably 4-6 months. Finally just threw it in the bottom corner of my tank in the sand and what do you know, it's happy there. The polyps stay extended even when sand lands on top of it.
