new to fowlr

Hi everyone on this side of canreef lol, i am new to the fish olny tanks really excited to get started. looking for some tips in what kind of fish to start (cycle) my tanks with.
75 gallon will have live rock, that an other question can i use base rock and curie it my self or should i just buy it from the store? 50/50 really i would like to know what i can get away with.
