Good day everyone, I hope someone can help me with this problem. I have a 250W MH lighting unit, not sure of the brand but it looks like corallife, the ballast started making noise and wasn't able to turn the light on, so I ordered a new one online and when it came in and plugged it in, my GFCI circuit tripped. So I started looking for the cause and I found that on the output plug it says 125V 13A, but on my lighting unit plug it says 125v 10A. I never new that there could be different output amps for the same wattage ballast. so does anyone know where I can get a ballast with 125v and 10A output or if there is a way to modify the new one. Thank you.

Thats a helpful post.

It shouldnt matter what the amps are on the ballast or cord. A 250w MH is only 2 amps at 125v + ballast factor. Thats just what the cord is rated for (10a or 13a). Sounds to me like something is not wired right. I had a coralife ballast ordered in for me that hummed like mad brand new. I would look for new ballasts all together. You would be amazed at the better light output if you put a galexy, icecap, vertex etc on your fixture. I swithched from coarlife ballasts to PFO and blew my mind how much differance there was between the 2.

Is it the 3 prong "computer" style end?

Edit: was it a vendor or just some guy that you bought the new one from?

I have to pay for shipping plus 20% restocking fee :( I am thinking if I can build a small circuit to lower the amp or I might sell it, not sure yet.
