Hey guys, I have a nikon D50 that I am fairly familiar with the settings on it but I was wondering a few things. What should my settings be like for taking shots under actinic light? Everyone always has such beautiful zoa shots under actinic but when I try, the picture just looks blue.. Barely any color in the coral at all. Any hints?

Change the white balance to

PRE

you will see

PRE flash in the viewfinder

take shots of the sand until you see GD flash in the view finder.
You might have to take various shots.. if it doesn't "take" then you will see

NO GD in the viewfinder.

Once you see GD flashing then you can start taking shots of the tank.

You may have to use a higher ISO and I find that you don't want to go above 800 on the D50.

You should also make sure you are pulled as far back if you have the kit zoom lens and make sure you are pulled all the way back.

You can get away with higher aperture numbers like f11 or f8 if you are using a tripod.

I always shoot in aperture priority mode.
