Hi all,

This weekend I witnessed the first coral spawning in our tank  . On Friday I was at J&L's and picked up a Turbinaria (see link). About 4 hours after it had been in the tank it started to spawn (lasted just over an hour). Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me during this event, but will make sure it's always ready from now on. I was in J&L's a couple days later and they told me to send the info to Eric Borneman, as he is tracking corals spawning in captivity. I did this and he replied back to me say that this is the first time he has heard of this coral spawning in captivity. My guess is that this has happened to other people, but they have never reported it. Either way, I still think that it is pretty exciting.

I bought a different piece of that same coral from J&L on Friday night. It started spawning during the drip acclimation and kept going after being transferred to my tank....must have been the "shock" of the new system???

The event turned into a feeding frenzy...I thought my larger clownfish was going to explode he was so fat...he could barely swim...

Cool. I was talking to Darren about that piece.

I guess no pics of the spawn?

both my clown fish went nuts too. The spawning happend shortly after they had been feed but that did not slow them down. I really wish I had my camera with me, I would have loved to have gotten photos of this event
