Im just finishing up my new shed which is housing a few tanks that will be my sump. I was thinking of using one large pump as a return, feed the tank for the skimmer, feed the bio pellets, feed the AC unit, feed the carbon reactor, ATS, etc

Is this doable? Does anyone foresee any problems? In theory this should all work as long as I have some resistance per "channel"? Im going to have a ball valve on every channel the pump feeds.

Other than if you lose one pump you lose everything.
Also Gate valves work better at controlling flow and they won't wash out as easy. I work in the oilfield and if there is restrictions needed we use as gate valve it's way more reliable.

I use one pump to run 9 feet of frag tanks, a 75 gallon water change tank, and a PM Bullet 3 beckett skimmer. I bought 2 pumps at the very beginning just in case one went down. I like it and wouldn't change it. Even if it went down, it's not too big of a deal as I have a closed loop pump that will keep the flow, and powerheads in my frag tank to keep everything going. Hope this helps.

I run my system of one pump for over a year with no problem.Skimmer, reactors, and everything that needs a pump of of only one pump.
This is a similar pump as i use

I rum most of my system off my main return from a reeflow it works well its a small dia return line dont think it reduced my overall return flow that much. i also have a closed loop from a second pump but my reactors/UV/ all except skimmer are taken off my return , ive reduced flow from each off line to accommodate the different reactors etc. very clean and less energy/heat added.

What would guys recommend for the pump? I was looking at:
http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/wp-seq03/ReeFlo+Hammerhead+Hybrid+External+Water+Pump.html

the ebay one listed above i would think would be too much for me plus its 1000watts.

The return is only about 20 feet and has about 10 feet of head. Everything else will be close by.
