Ok... I have started notice hair algae growing on one side of my tank / the only other algae is algae that grows on my tank glass... seems like every week I have to clean this off / that is easy enough however the hair algae is a different matter....

Should I be getting a sea hare / and if so what type should I be getting?

I have tried about 3 sea hares, all mine were hit and miss with hair algae. Siphoning, manual removal works best. Plus sea hares if they run out of food will die. I just pulled out one of my rocks that had quite a bit and scrubbed, rinsed then put it back in the tank. Use water after a water change and use that to scrub and the remainder from your water change to rinse.

If you have a large tank and lots of hair algae a sea hare is a good choice.
It needs to be acclimated very slowly and fed nori or wardley's algae discs once it is almost finished eating all the hair algae. They also do not like fast current so ratchet down the current while it is doing its job.
If your tank is small do as posted.
