so i've had this peacock mantis for about 4 months he seems healthy as a horse, eats well but he hasnt molted once, hes about 5" i caught a glimps of what looks kinda like shell rot on his back just above his eyes, can anyone confirm?

It could just be a battle scar and because of his size it takes ALOT longer to molt but im not sure

if it is, is there anything i can do? dont really want to lose him as hes trained to eat out of my hand now and recognizes me

pretty hard to tell from that pic. Is there any chance you can get more of a top down? What king of lighting do you have it under? Its not very often that peacocks come in with battle damage...mostly smaller ones.

It does look like the start of it, but it is tough to tell. Make sure you have no nitrate, nitrite or ammonia present in the water. If there is, do a water change right away.

What is your lighting cycle?

Check your calcium/alk levels.

This is a huge part of maintaining a proper stomatopod habitat.

If you suspect shell rot, start doing 10% partial changes now, ask question later.
