I think I'm gonna go with a Deltec on my next tank and I really like the in sump SC line. The display of my tank is 275 gallons, and while the sump is running It will hold another 73 gallons, so at any given moment, my tank will have 348 gallons in the system.

The Deltec SC 2060 is more than enough skimmer for that water volume, but Deltec doesn't make self cleaning heads for that size of unit, and I think those are really slick. Would bumping up to a 2560 be too much skimmer action?

I don't have any experience with either deltec skimmers. But when it comes to choose a skimmer based on water volume, we only count display tank, not sump or refugium. The reason is that we usually stock live stock, which produces waste, in our DT, not sump or refugium.

Never really thought of that. I've always considered total volume.

Suppose it doesn't much matter. If a person crams the same amount of livestock into a 180 as the next guy with a 300 they should require the same skimmer I would think...
