My wife and I just purchased a 93 Gal Cube (30"X30"X24"H). Currently the tank does not have an overflow, but soon whill. I am just deciding the best method - leaning towards a centrally mounted cup style overflow with the bulkheads mounted high out the back.

Here is my question, Has anyone tried the SWC Clone 160 skimmer? The build appears to be good quality and some of the reviewes I have come across on the net seem positive. The price compared to others seems attractive.

Looking for you feedback

Sorry, had to ask...are we talking about an "SWC" cone skimmer or a clone (copy)?

Ive had mine for about 4 days, probably still breaking in, but absolutely love it. Already pulling a bunch of stuff out of the water.

Imo you can not go wrong with it, I also have it on a 90 currently.

I have a swc 160 cone and seriously love it, that thang is amazing, and the 160 cone comes with the atman pump instead of the sicce.
You will not regret this purchase if you get one!

i have used the Cone 160 aned its a amazing little skimmer for the price of 250 in that area. Its dead quiet, small footprint, easy to adjust and pulls like crazy its underrated I had it on my 150 with a 30 gal sump and wstill pulled like crazy. and that is with 30 fish in there.

How is the 180 for noise? I was wondering if it would be better to go for the 180 instead of the 160... or will it be too much for a 93gal?

For your 93 G tank, I think the SWC 180 is more suitable than the SWC 160.
If you haven't decided on your skimmer, take a look at reef octopus skimmers. Some of them use the same pumps as SWC and some have newer sicce pumps and are supposed to be better than the sicce 2500 pump.

George i have to disagree I ran that 160 on my tank which was full of ACans and softies and sps and with 30 fish and a 30 ga main tank and it was pulling some nasty crap out.. Persnnely the Atman pump that Jayson sells with the cone is a far better pump then the sicce I have used both and can back up both. ATMAN

for the little difference in price I would go with the swc 180, if you ever upgrade you are set. Yes the 160 will do a 93g nicely but depending on how heavily stocked it is you will be close to the limit. 180 is fine on noise, I haven't heard the 160 but I cant see it being majorly different.

Hi,

We have the SWC skimmers in stock and although we've sold out of the 180 and 230's we have lots of the cone 120, BMK-150 and cone 160 in stock.

These are one of the best skimmers available for the value.

Please give us a call 604-625-2268 if you have any questions regarding them.

Oh yah, we also have aptasia zappers. They are an awsome easy way to keep unwanted pests at bay. zap zap.

Cheers,

Paul
