View Full Version : bubble king mini 160/180/200 pump question

hey there i have a friend whos bubble king had a pump meltdown.. does a vender or other anyone know of any replacement pumps that i can use or get ahold of to replace the. the pump seems to not want to stay running or even start at this time.

thanks in advance for any input im only familiar with my vertex and this skimmer is a bit more advanced lol

Just a thought but did you try soaking it in vinegar to remove any calc deposits...

i havent yet tried vinegar i was just givin this challenge today and will be removing the skimmer from the sump and bringing it home for the weekend to tinker with ,, was told a laguna pump will work as well for this skimmer. and i have acess to them. when i finda solution i willpost it as well just fro fun... the rookie skimmer repair lol

thanks albert i hop it helps just watched it it is a duifferent pump but should work the same.. just got it home will work on it this wekend ill keep this thread posted if the pump is just plain fubar'd...

Yeah, the maintenance on all models of the Askoll motors is very similar.

Let me know what the scoop is afterwards.

Is the pump trying to start?

If it is. Take the impeller out. Hold the needlewheel part of the impeller and try to spin the magnet on the impeller shaft. If it spins you may just need a new impeller.

Phone proline aquatics if in doubt, I think they can even service the pump for you for less then the cost of a new pump.

well i took it all apart and cleaned the pump. put it back together and it starts ..stops starts stops tries to start and just quits i think the main housing is burnt out impeller seems fine nothing loose. i see that the pump is glued to the round bottomplate is it difficult to remove this and replace it with a new pump. someone suggested a laguna pump would work. and or what would a replacement be for this pump i will post a pic shortly.

just want to say a thank you and :thumb: to albert and andrew for their help in getting a pump out to our lfs while the owner is basking in the florida rays. i look forward to geting this bubble king up and running again for pat
