Just curious what other people run. Maybe describe what types of corals you keep and your temp swing.

Just a bored post

I put 79 but I have to add that this is the temp which I strive to maitain or the average. my tank goes down to 78.2 at night and up to 80.5 during the day. In the old house my temp was getting up to 87 during the day in the summer but I feel this house will be cooler so I shouldent see that much of a swing. If there is I will be buying a cooler this summer.

One big long-tentacled LPS - - and a few smaller ones, few caps and zooz as well.

79.5 - 80 steady, year-round.

Mostly LPS and some SPS, temps always at 77 in the cooler months and rises to about 82 during the peak summer months.

I submitted a vote 80 but it's more like 78-82. Warmer on a hot summer's day. I don't panic until well above 86 or so, but it's hit 90 a few times this year and things lived through it (although there have been times it hit 90 in years past and things didn't always live, so who knows). What do I keep? Umm ... your basic broad spectrum I suppose. Softies LPS SPS anemones etc.

I don't know why, but I like to think of tank temp in C. My thermometer reads 26.1C. I had to think for a couple of seconds what 26 was in F before I responded. I can think of volume in terms of gallons no problem (maybe because measuring tank sizes in litres seems weird, a litre is just too small ... might as well measure in terms of pints or something), but temperature I think of in C. Maybe that's because temperature in C is something tangible to me, e.g., it is 20C outside today, or it is -18C or whatever .. I always have to stop and think about the temperature when I watch a US station and they say "there will be a high of 5 today" and I'm like .... is that cold? I have no idea.

Incidentally, when I dived the GBR the temperature was 26C.

My tank varies from 80 at night up to 82 during the day. I keep my metal halide on for 15 hrs. Last month I had the temperature swing from 68 to 89 degrees for a day due to a faulty heater and some stupidity on my part  .
I noticed the heater had quit in the morning and unplugged my fan to help the lights bring up the temperature since I my backup heater didn't work as well. When I got home from work the heat had gone up to 89. Everything pulled through it unharmed. Anouther lesson learned!
