I wonder what would happen to the tank if you had a bunch of those. That's still die off in your water column. Has anyone used these? long term success?

Yes you can. I made my own but you can buy a aptasia zapper online. If you are not a expert with power do not try this at home.

Just tried this product out last night seems to work well but have to see if they come back! One word of caution, there is a very strong smell of chlorine right after use. I do not know if chlorine is some how being produced but it sure smells like it!

I have used the zapper method for years without any problems. I was told that it is safe. I have never smelt any gas other than from me. If there is chlorine gas it is very dangerous. We bend plastics at our shop and we always do a flame test to look for yellow flame that equals chlorine gas

If you are scard about using 24 volt power (class 2) in your tank you better remove all your 120 volt heaters and power heads.

I still say grab a Bic lighter... or better yet, one of those butane torch lighters and cook the buggers. Works for me!

I have been trying to build one of these as well but can't seem to find the right power source. I would buy one of these if someone know where to get them.

don't you got that arc welding unit in the back

Just about any ac adapter will work. You will also need to take apart an old drill and take the one of the brushes out for the negative. Google aptasia zapper and you will see what you need:idea:

Yes yes I do but I think that it might have just a wee bit to much power

I just ordered one from OC, can't wait till it gets here! I've only been having about 50% success with the sodium hydroxide, and its hard to kill some of the ones that are angled into the rock.

Do you think this will work on mushrooms? I have about 300 in my tank that I would love to nuke so that I can make use of the rock in my new tank. I won't introduce mushrooms ever again to a system.
