Shipping and duty and brokerage fees will top that up for you.

There located in Canada so there is no brokerage fee or duty. And I dont believe shipping will be that high either.

The product may not be in Canada though, and then the prices do apply. You should certainly check it out and let everyone know!!

Here is my email and response from aquariumlight.com

Hello,

I am interested in your lighting products. I have a few questions I was hoping you could answer.

I am located in Victoria, B.C. are your products sent from a location in Canada or am I going to have to worry about duty and brokerage fees?

Your “36" Dual 175 Watt Metal Halide Canopy” listed at $275 US, does it come with all that is shown in the picture, canopy, ballast, and cords etc?

Thank you for your time,
Michael Hill.

Michael,
We will be manufacturing that particular item in Toronto. You will not have to pay any duty or brokerage fees.
The 36" Dual 175 Watt Metal Halide Canopy comes with everything you see in the photo. The only thing that
you will need are bulbs. We sell the following MH 175W bulbs: (in CAD) Venture 5K: $55.00 , Venture 10K: $75.00,
Ushio 10K $90.00 , Aquaray 20K $123.00
If you want to run a bulb 10K and over, you will need to upgrade the ballast to a pulse start ballast for an additional $15.00
per ballast.

If you have anymore questions, let me know.
Happy New year!
Thanks,

Kim

I am not sure it is all that good. I just looked, and a 24", 175W halide fixture without a bulb is $165.00 US on sale. It shows $45.00 US for shipping. Add to that the cost of the bulb, and the fan, and $15.00 for the Pulse Start conversion. I think J&L would be competitve at those prices.

I agree with Bob, J&L would be better, PLUS, if something should happen to go wrong, J&L is much closer.
