hey everyone,
so im shutting down my 125 for now. selling fish and rock and all that.
but im gonna keep a 29 gallon with a 20 gallon sump for my clown frogspawn etc. however i plan on getting back into the hobby when i move into a big enough place for a large tank again ( im moving to a conda probly thats why im shutting it down). i have 3 250 w halide pendants my bubble king 180, neptune aquacontroller among other things. basically my question is well all of this equipment still be worth using in 5 years? i guess if it works now itll still work then but im debating whether or not to sell it or just use my bk on my 29. i currently have my back up skimmer (rs135) running it right now which is already overkill lol. wow this turned into a vent session haha just kinda bummed about shutting down my tank.
anyway is it way to ridiculous to use my 180 on this tank? and should i save it for my next big tank or sell it? i like it because its way more set and forget than my 135.
thx for any advice!

I will suggest you selling as many things as you can. 5 years are a long way to go. There will be a lot of changes in 5 years, especially in this hobby.

Ya Im with him on this one... 5 years is a long ass time.. And really if your moving do you really want to move all your stuff around from place to place... I would sell it and pocket what you can..

MH won't be worth anything within 2 years because of LEDs (maybe even less)
Aquacontroller should be sold, its electronic and they always come out with better versions.
BK 180 you could keep because it seems skimmers last a long long time, not much change in the designs really or you could sell it and just go bigger later.

well moving it around isnt an issue im storing it at my parents house.
i see the point on the halides though. do you really think halides will be phased out in two years?
seeing as its just an aquacontroller jr. i might just keep that and use it for PH, temp and a light timer.
so i might just sell my halides and leep the rest
thanks for the help!

In this hobby... Your almost guaranteed to want new stuff 5 years later. Id sell everything I possibly could riht now while it still has some value... 5 years from now you'll be getting bargain basement prices for it while you drool over the shiny new stuff out.

Halides are way of the past in my opinion but I am a bit bias

LEDs are really starting to hit some insane numbers and colors so i doubt in 5 years you will see Halides for sale. Too much heat, too much cost too much power.

Keep the BK and sell the rest. In 5 years it'll be LED or plasma beam for lighting lol..

But the BK is like the ferrari of cars so it's worth keeping.
