Any thoughts on this?

Im hoping that the new reefbrite strip (http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/ld-mlrb1824/Marineland+Reef+Bright+LED+Light+Fixture+%2818-24+Inch%29.html) will be a sufficient replacement for my 70W sunpod on my ap12...

Any thoughts/experience with this?

Am I dreaming?...lol

Thanks Canreef.

I suppose I may have to play guinea pig on this one?
from my reading this seems like a plausible swap.

1w leds dont have near the punch of the 3w crees most people use. This fixture would have a great spread though. What are you putting it over?

I've got the reefbrites over my tank and so far so good. Too early to say definitively yet but I am very happy about them.

I've always found it interesting that everybody says you need 3 watt crees, but almost every person who has them talks about how they only run them at 40% power!

My mistake, this is a different reefbrite strip then the ones I have. No idea how these specific ones will perform.

You talking reef bright (http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/ld-mlrb1824/Marineland+Reef+Bright+LED+Light+Fixture+%2818-24+Inch%29.html), or reef brite (http://www.reefbrite.com/features/reefbrite-tech-led/)? The later has the 3W LEDs some would say are necessary.

Agreed but im just asking how deep the tank is and too keep in mind they dont have the same giddyup so to speak ;-)

If you were asking me, I've got the latter... the reefbrite strips

check out the nano-reef led threads (much better than any other led threads i have seen on 8-9 of the other forums i am a part of)

long story short - they are realizing the days of cool whites with royal blues are not enough to get the coral growth they are looking for or colour variety. Some experiments are being done with "cool blue" leds, warm whites, reds, green/cyan leds to mimic the spectrum of a multi bulb t5 system. Colour blending has been difficult due to the point source lighting that leds are but the results look promising :)

The one that I linked too...lol
The marineland one.

I am putting it over an aquapod...lol

I am now leaning in this (http://www.reefledlights.com/led-kits/deluxe-led-kits/) direction...
The nano kit atthe bottom of the page.

Looks like a simple enough DIY and I can try and build my own canopy...

you can make your own LED fixture with 3w CREEs for less than that fixture.
1w isnt going to penetrate the water like the 3w CREEs.

You should read the entire thread before posting...lol
way ahead of you...

Now I have to consider the new Vertex unit too...Looks just like the marineland one but with 3 watt crees.
