HVW Technologies is in Calgary and you can pick up your order to avoid shipping: http://www.hvwtech.com/products_list.asp?CatID=116&SubCatID=117&SubSubCatID=0&sortBy=&NumPerPage=0&CurPage=0

I would recommend either the Hakko 936 station or the Dash Iron. The Dash is plenty for what you need but the station is really nice if you have the extra $ burning a hole in your pocket.

They also have all kinds of Arduino product, electonics bits and pieces....

I actually own 3 stations and 3 irons -but I use them all for various tasks.

Seriously though, for what you need, the Dash is a very good quality iron that will last you forever (I have 2). The only shorcoming is that it has no stand, but you can buy those separately.

Buying used isn't really a great idea. Anything for sale is probably junky and/or abused. The money you save isn't worth it.

I would be concerned with buying the Dash...on LED projects, you need more heat than a 25W iron can give. I have a 35W and it was a real struggle...upgraded to the 65W and had far fewer problems. You only want to solder the LED's on the heatsink...which takes all your heat away...so you need an iron that gets real hot.

Great Station!! I have had mine for a better part of 3 years! I was like DiveDood! But the WD1001 has some of the best tips I have personally ever used! I think they are alittle Pricey.. But if you want something thats going to last for years and years.. get a Weller Man! They have one of the best names and support in the industry I think that they are like $280-$340 bucks.. but if you want to build a quality product.. why wouldn't you use premium tools to make that product! IMO! So look into them, Im SURE they have cheaper stations for like $99.. Last time I was in there They had one on sale for $89 but that was a few months ago!

Also.. Another Electronics shop thats tucked away for the hardware developers in the city!.. is MRO Electronic Supply in the NE.. Just a few blocks from Active I found this place.. and thats why I havent been back to Active.. and they Have EVERYTHING! Bulk style!

I think you will be happy with your purchase...and it will make your DIY LED job a lot easier.
