Ok Grizz FTS tomorrow LOL
Goldie, everything has to be shipped unless I want to pay 2 1/2 times thru LFS, they deon't have any saltwater anything but will bring it in. Had pretty good luck getting things out of Vancouver, but since being on here and seeing all the stores in Edmonton that ship. Well I'm a little more excited LOL

I have had good luck with J&L. Jeff has been helpful and if I've had any problem with the shipments they have dealt with it in a very quick and professional matter. That is where I have dealt for all my livestock.
As far as hardware goes I have been everywhere online, find best price and buy LOL. Have bought a few things from Ocean Aquatics lately and have been happy with speed of delivery and pretty good prices.
Since I found Canreef I'm definately going to start buying out of a few shops in Edmonton, should be faster and safer as far as livestock is concerned.

I originally bought 4 occerelis clowns and they did pick on the runt for the first week or so. I got a Red LTA and noone went near it so I got a sabae Anenome and they ignored that one as well. Tried the 2 pink skunks and they ignored the nems also So i brought in 2 Clarkii who loved both Nems but were absolute bullies after a couple of weeks, so I had to take everything out of the tank to catch them.
Next was to try a condi and the Occerilis ignored that but started liking the Sabae and things were peaceful. For A Bit..... Then they took out the runt Occerelis. The Sabae went looking for a new home and ended up in filter intake, so I ordered a new Sabae Nem with a Clarkii again but I made sure it was a runt. Peaceful times again. But noone would go near Red Lta
so I got a Tomato. Went directly to LTA and has never left. Clarki liked condis and Occ's had 2 Condi's to play in.
All was peaceful until I had to take in 4 new fish from a friends crashed tanks, so for some reason the Occ's killed the Clarkii. To many fish, to small of a tank. this will change when new tanks come on line.
The Pink have always stayed to one area , the Occ's to the left side and the Tomato stays in host.
I would probably not do it the same way again, but I like clowns and Nems.
Next tank will only have a pair of Gold Stripe Maroons and a Carpet Nem or a few minis.

My initial impression of this fixture is, Why didn't I get MH lighting long ago.
I'm going from a 2 bulb Hagen to this so there really should be a huge difference, but I am thrilled with this light. I realize that it is not really high end equipment, but for this system at home it is a huge addition. I only have a few SPS and I think that they were already dead from lack of proper lighting. I am going to leave them in the tank for a few days to see if they come back, I am hopeful.
The mushrooms, toadstool and Nems love the new lights as do the torch and frogspawn.
The current light cycle is
Actinics on at 9:00 AM off at 9:00 PM
MH on at 1:00 PM off at 6:00 PM
Moonlights on 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM
Is this enough MH for my lightly coraled tank (mostly softies) ??
If I add more LPS or SPS should I increase this ??
At present the bulbs are factory bulbs, so I am looking at upgrading the T5s for sure, I have 1 Icecap Actinic and am wondering if I should order one more or a deepwater 14k so that the sunrise sunset cycle has more natural light than straght actinic lighting. What do most others do ???
I am happy with the stock MH bulb, it is very white, so I may pick up a Phoenix for a little more blue to see the difference. Any recommendations ??
I will post some tank pics in a bit.

Hey Mike, sorry I missed the addition of the new fixture.
As for your light cycle I think you should be good with what you have it set at for the moment. You are making a big jump in light so you don't want to cause any light shock by having the MH on to long. This is almost the exact same as my cycle but I shut the moon lights of @ 6am.
As for the bulbs, all the stock bulbs that come in Oydessea fixtures are crap. I changed my MH's out as soon as I got them with bulbs from EBay. I am running 15000K MH and 12000K T5 in my fixtures ATM but also going to add some dimmable T5's to add a few more colors. Probably actinics, 22000K & maybe Fiji Purple.

Thanks Greg,
I picked up a couple of those ebay bulbs up and have them ready to go.
But need a 14k deepwater for one of the 2 T5 bulbs.
So when I get that I will swap all the bulbs over.
Looks like my plans are getting changed for my tanks again.
Wife thinks it would be a waste to set up nicer tank at work than the one at home,
So a swapout is in the works here. its like she was reading my mind LOL
What are you running for lights on your FOWLR for lighting? I have 3 fixtures for other tank and will probably just start with fish and nems . 6 bulb T5 probably sufficient until I put corals in ?

The tank was taken down last fall and everything moved into a 25 gallon tank and moved into our bedroom.
Lost some livestock and inverts due to power outages that I caused, but other than a daily algae war things were coming aroundand I was looking at adding some LPS and clams, etc.
March 06, 5 days before headingh out to Edmonton, the 25 gallon started leaking water through a seam. The mad scrasmble was on. Grabbed a rubbermaid and the old tank and did a changeover. I was originally worried that the tank would be to big but it fits nicely.
Swap was a little nervewrecking.
http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=691662&postcount=14
Turned into a WIN/WIN situation because I got a bigger tank and it was the wifes favorite tank. Bigger tank and Happy wife YEAHHHHHH she even helped when I had to swap everything.
After a couple of days everything settled in , but I was unsure if I should still with plans to add anything to the tank. But once I got to Edmonton and saw all the goodies there , there was no way I could go home empty handed.

Just saw this . . . Wow! What a great selection of livestock you've been able to get your hands on. It must be so incredibly challenging north of 60.

There are a few good suppliers that I deal with and even get a few things though the local store. But it sure is nice to go south and actually see things before you buy them LOL

Some other newer things that have totally filled this tank up. Mostly from Ken at BWA, but a few actually came from local LFS.
