I read online some info about fragging candy cane corals. I noticed on most of the pictures the stem is brown and only the actual head has a colored fleshy appearance. My candy cane colony probably has about 35 heads but only the main stem is brown the rest of the stems are a light blue the same color of the heads. Is it okay to cut an inch down from the head/polyp in this case?

Yes, it should be just fine, as the skelaton runs right up and into the polyp/tissue
