It has been suggested to me that some sort of membership cards be issued for the Edmonton and Area Reefers. This will allow us to participate in any discounts the LFS might have to offer. (Show your card get your discount). I haven't talked to all the stores but most of them are on board with more info. Membership will cost $5.00/ yr to cover cost of materials. Please vote

Sounds like a great idea,...any thoughts of maybe talking to ACE (Aquarium Club of Edmonton) (http://www.fish-club.org/index.php) and doing some kind of combined local dealio?

I think this is a great idea. I can offer my graphic design skills, if you want.

I have paid for a membership at a store already. I don't want to have to pay again for the same discounts. If you could find out more from LFS and post more details perhaps this could work.

I don't care, unless you can create a membership card with benefits... Like discounts from sponsors, or arranged discounts with LFS's

However this would be a huge task to create, so most likely not worth the effort. So if there are no benefits, why create something just cuz?

The card will come with benefits.

If a LFS wants to promote their sales to local consumers they should set up a membership rewards system of their own. I do not believe that Canreef should be strong arming LFS for better pricing.

For $25 dollars a year you can join ACE Aquarium Club of Edmonton, many local stores give ACE members a discount already. You also get monthly newsletters and members can sell at there auctions, usually twice yearly.
It would really be nice to work a little more together, increased membership, more buying power hopefully better discounts.
They also do workshop weekends and fly in speakers "experts" if the reefers were more involved maybe we could get some reef speakers.
