View Full Version : Another quick Vortech question

Just purchased an MP40W ES. I have found the directions pretty intuitive. I am using the night mode and it says if you unplug the pump you then have to reset. Also I need to shut off the Vortech or at least stop it to do a water change since the water gets too low for comfort with the pump running. Is there anyway to stop the pump without turning off the unit? Its not a huge deal to keep reseting the night mode weekly but just thought there might be another way...

I put it to feeding mode when I do water change.

I wondered about just doing that. I suppose it spins slow enough that if the water level goes below the pump nothing happens to it?

I have the MP10w es and I wonder how the hell to set the night mode? I just turn it down at night

You press the two left buttons once together. Then once more together. If you are running at the predefined settings it will reduce output to 50% of whatever mode and intensity you are currently running for 10 hours. If its like the MP40 it should then slowly blink a white light on the dial. You can also change the way night mode operates but I am much to lazy for that...

Thanks I'll give it a try.

After setting it once like that, it's good until you turn the unit off? As in automatic & daily?

I have version 2.2 I believe and when you cut the power you have to reset the night mode. On mine it automatically goes into night mode 24 hours from when you first set it otherwise.

When I turn my pumps off they dont require the night mode to be reset. I use the on/off button rather than unpluging them. There is a much better manual on ecotech's website which explains how to set duration and flow rate of your night mode.
