I've had my Australian for 13 months now. I even fragged it into 3 pieces back in August. I try to keep my water parameters optimal.
1.025
Ca +/-420 ppm
KH +/- 9 dkh
Mg 1300-1500 ppm
PO4 undetectable
NO3 undetectable

Lighting is indirect from a 250W Phoenix 14K and flow is moderate so that the tentacles sway slightly. I also feed them pieces small pieces of krill or silverside about twice a week. The tentacles are sticky enough to grab and pull food in to be eaten.

Skeleton down in the sand with the tentacles and mouth facing up. Flow - just enough to move the tentacles softly. Lighting, indirect. Too much light is bad. Spot feed occasionally. Don't let the flesh touch rock - if possible. The flesh is fairly sensitive.

I have a re mouthed elegance I may need to trade in because it has balooned up so much, it's presse dup against the glass. It has at least 15 mouths!

everyone says they are tough, but I've never had problems with them. I just plop em on the sand where I want, so long as there is not strong flow.
