Just looking for opinions on a good repacement bulb, HQI 250 14,000 kh, double ended. Need to replace them, due to the amount of time I've used (14 months) the old bulbs. But don't want to break the bank, with top of the line, if i can get away with it. . Doug

This website has most MH bulb/ballast combo's posted with par results. Pretty helpful in deciding lighting.

I'm tagging along on this.. I can't find any 250 de bulbs that I like. vie tried Phoenix and aqua connect.. They are ok. AquAconnects IMO aren't worth the price. I wish Radium made a 250 de bulb.. I love my 400's and going to try the 150.

Pheonix are a good bulb, but I like Ushio even more. I just find Ushio with better color and consistant performance in the long haul. Both are a good choice.

I second this. Love my pheonix 14k bulb compared to the ushio's. Found the 10,000k really yellow and the 20,000k extrememly blue. I think they have a 17.5k or something around there, never seen it in action

Tagging along as I am due for bulbs as well .

Phoenix 14K and XM 10K are my top two.

Huh 10k eh? Seems like they would be slightly on the yellow spektrum wouldnt it? (totally not sure, more of a question on how they looked color wise) I was eyeing the xm 15k. but still not sure.

The XM 10K is a good value. High PAR and low price. Great for growth but if you want nicer color then the Phoenix might be a better choice. That or run them with actinic supplementation.

Doug, when you say "shizznit".......does this mean good, or bad? Sorry a little unclear on the secret lingo. ;0)

I've just got my first set of pheonix bulbs on friday, and the color is amazing! I'm planning to by the same bulbs again, next round.

I am running Ushio 10K right now, and they are far from yellow, actually very very white. When I ran the pheonix, they were 14K, and I can say they were really nice also.

I'm basing my results off of JDigits 75gal when he lived with me. He had to add supplimentals after due to the kelvin of bulb. But to each their own. Personally, the pheonix was amazing after everything I have read. It did get a bit whiter since I plugged it in

I think another good thing about the phoenix is decent quality for a decent price. I bought my 14K for about $70-80 per bulb. Not bad for what you get, compared to some of the more expensive units.

exactly. I think they are only $10 less than the ushio. How much are the GE's going for?

I have SE 250 halides, I have an XM 10k in one, 15k in the other. The 10K is obviously more "yellow" I'd call it white actually... But the corals are amazing under them, my high light corals LOVE the 10k. I wanted to run both for a bit to see what I liked, but I'll definitely be getting another XM 10K.
