Hey all,

I want to upgrade lighting on a 40b that I currently have 110 pc's over. Tank's inhabitants are softies and LPS.

I've searched around a bit and have ran out of time, away from town for work in remote location and poor internet access for awhile. Hope somebody can take up my slack for me lol.

So basicaly I want a min of 4 bulbs (prefer 6 bulb), good quality ballpark 400 (missed a sweet deal on an ATI sigh). Any recomendatrions would be great.

Ran into some interesting LED units while looking also; I have 2 Icecap 660s kicking around from a 125 I took down awhile ago......started thinking DIY combo???? Could I put something together for 400 using the ballasts (need reflectors etc)?

Sorry, I know I'm all over the place...any help would be fantastic!!

Thanks
Shane

If you're looking for a 6-bulb T5HO, then the 6 bulb, 36" Tek should do fine:

6-Bulb Tek (http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/sl-t5tl3606/Sunlight+Supply+Tek+Light+6+Bulb+T5+Fixture+%2836+ Inch%2C+6x39W%29.html)

That should put you about $400 once you buy bulbs. Individual reflectors and cooling are standard on the Tek, so it's going to be one of the best ones you can buy!

Although, unless you're planning to get into SPS, a 6-bulb might be a little excessive. As for LEDs, I don't think (even a DIY project) would be feasable for a $400 pricetag. I was thinking of doing a DIY LED for my nano and was priced about that for a 15G.

Looking at the Tecs.

Fella I know is starting distribution of these LED lights:
http://www.evolutionledlight.com/ and thinks a 200W will probably run 400-450.
Hear good and bad about the 119W so am in the wings on it...

Cheers
