We apologize for the delay - but after a long summer hiatus and some technical difficulties as a result of the recent server migration, Canreef's featured tanks is now back!

For October 2010 we are featuring Reefer Rob's cherry 180 gallon reef tank!

Please click on the picture below to check out his awesome system.

Congratulations Reefer Rob, and thank you for sharing your system details with us!

Wow, congrats and awesome tank! Love how clean the walls are. Is it always that clean or did you clean it for the TOTM? :)

It used to be that clean all the time, but lately I've gone for the natural look  I just cleaned it up for the pics... almost needed dynamite to get the coraline off!

Thanks Everyone!

Shelps, the boat is more fun, but definitely not cheaper. The typo in my last paragraph is strangely appropriate, but should read "but it's time to moron to new things" $1800 for new portlights this month, and hopefully thats the last of the expensive "deferred maintenance" projects.

I doubled my CA/ALK dosage on the doser after reading that! Absolutely stunning looking tank Rob, sad to see it get torn down. Out of curiosity why such a large difference in the concentrations of your CA/ ALK dosages?

No secrets, my reef is what I'd call "traditional", everything I do has been well publicized.

There are many reef keeping "philosophies", and many different approaches seem to work, but I believe it's important to keep it simple. I only put something in my tank if I know what it is. I don't like "secret formulas", IMO you don't need them, and I enjoy the satisfaction of figuring things out myself.

The most important thing is luck... so many things can go wrong that are completely beyond our control!

Calcium chloride can be dissolved at a higher concentration than sodium bicarbonate. I pretty much mix as much in as will stay in solution. BTW water parameters are tested regularly and dosages adjusted appropriately.

Great to see you finally featured Rob! Your system is so much better designed than mine!

I'm pretty happy for you getting the boat too. You've been talking about doing that and shutting down the tank for years. Its hard to believe its actually happening.

+1 and congrats. You'll be back someday I'm sure.

When we start the "what got you BACK into reefing" thread someday you'll say you saw something swimming by the boat and...

Congrats. Great looking colorful healthy reef tank. Good work.

By the way, to the webpage editors, the first sentence needs some editing...it says: "Congratulations to Reefer Rob for being selected as Canreef's Featured Tank of the Month for April 2010." It should say "October 2010".

Congratulations Rob! Very nice tank!

I was surprised to see you have 2 out of 3 of my most prized SPS corals that are prized not only for their coloration, but because I haven't seen them elsewhere! Bah!!! :p
