Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Tap Water Filter

was wondering if anyone is using this?

If so how much water do you use? and how often are you replacing the filter?

I have only used this filter. I have a 55ga reef and I change 5-10 ga of water every 1-2 weeks. I have never had any water related problems. I change the filter when the slight purple tinge in the filter media reaches the top of the filter. It lasts about 3 months depending on how much stuff it's removing from the tapwater and if your making water for extra water changes, cycling live rock, ect.

Thanks

I plan on switching from my rodi system to that

I'm guessing I will use about 10-20G a week max

so far I found big al's to be the cheapest for replacement filter's

is there any where else that has them cheaper? or somewhere I can buy in bulk like 10 filter's?

You should check your tap water TDS to get an idea of how long each cartridge will last. If you've got extremely hard water you'll be changing cartridges quite quickly. You'll essentially be going from RO/DI to just DI, but without all the pre-filters and RO membrane which "protect" your current DI resin from having to work very hard.

My tap water tds now goes from 70 to max 140 ppm

I'm using this water on my zoa/paly only tank no refuge or skimmer

not sure if this is bad but my phosphate is .05 mg/l

and nitrate is 5 ppm

thinking of having a storage container too and throwing in a phosban reactor with carbon
