As some already know I'm new on Canreef but have made a few friends along the way

trying to juggle school work and my hobbies (Aquatics is one of them) is tough but it keeps me busy

i'll start off first with my 10G i have still but now slowly taking it apart

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/ae86boi/FishTank%202010%2010G/IMG_1630.jpg

1 Silver Tip, 3 Red Claw Crabs (Mangroves) (2 Female 1 Male)

had them for almost 2 months now.. still kicking and loving life

i just recently picked up a 30G tank and am Cycling as we speak..

some specs

30G Hex Flat Back (36.5 x13 inch)
Semi Matching stand (will be getting a nice spray down full black)
Fluval U3 Underwater Filter (Love it works like a charm!)
200W in tank Heater
2 T5HO Lights CoralLife (1 36 inch, and one 30 Inch)

Water level at the moment is 1/3 of the tank
packed 1/3 of one side of the tank with Caribbean aquatic sand.
as it sits right now the water is cloudy but will clear up.

recently checked the water salinity at roughly 11ppt

after checking the salinity I carefully placed my Silver Tip into the tank.. he swam around just fine and is loving all the space! for just one tiny fish 30G is his kingdom!

Here are some current pictures today:

I will continuously UPdate as everything clears up and more things happen

the tank is positioned in front of my messy book case which hasnt moved since grade 7... now in my mid 20's the tank will replace the shelf.

:D if anyone has any advice for me please feel free to PM me :D i wanna try and keep the clutter out of the thread for now till everything settles

thanks for looking! and more than appreciated looking forward to the advice to come from the fellow Reefers

just curious, why'd you lower the water level?

seen a brackish display years back with mudskippers, still think the idea was one of the best.

just curious, why'd you lower the water level?

just so i could get some land on there at the moment.. i bought 2 big bags of sand and thats wat i got out of it.. soon to be more though.. will have the tank 50/50 water land.. but right now as it sits.. thats how it is.. again once i get more sand it will be raised up a bit more

mark: i wanted to always do something like this.. i could have went straight SW or kept the FW but brackish caught my attention to some wat unique to me and fun.. so i set out to do this project.

i've seen some mudskip/crab brackish setups and thats wat gave me motivation and inspiration to do this..

thanks guys!

as promised i have full updated pictures of new setup and a cleaner room..

measured the PPT levels of the water and as it sits 10PPT

also will be getting new light fixtures that perch ontop of the tank giving the tank room between the light and lid

all my crabs have recently Molted which is a good sign and i have only counted one crusted shell that they molted.. so that means they have devoured the other two shells..

water level is fairly the same as i dropped it in before.. knowing there is some evaporation in the water im not to overly concerned as there will be water change out every 2 weeks.

plans as of right now. pick up some mangrove plants to give a natural environment. more sand to up the land space. and a few more RCC's and possibly mudskippers but the mudskps will have to wait till winter
