Just purchased a bucket of this salt. Not following the mixing directions very well, can you guys who use this salt help me out. I mix my salt in a 25 gallon brute container and usually mix up 15 gallons at a time, was using instant ocean and would put 2 cups per 5 gallons and would get a salinity of 1.025 or very close to that. what are some ways you guys mix your H2o up. Sorry if this is a dumb question but any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks:redface:

Add salt as necessary, check frequently with refractometer until salinity reached.

take note of how many cups or whatever you use as a measuring device is needed.

Even so I usually add what I need and if I over shoot, easy to put some RO water in to bring it down.
I got an aquajet mini mixing my bucket. I only change 5 gallons at a time.

Something not right here, IO mixes up with 2 cups salt for 4 gallons not 5. Is your refractometer not reading right or something?

just make sure to use a refractometer and not a float or needle float reader.

2 cups of IO per gallon? I think you need to recheck your refrac!

In a 5gal pail I do 3 scoops of IO and I get 1.026. I just switched to RC and do 3.5-4 cups of salt in the same 5 gallon pail to make 1.026.

Ya that's what I was doing, got the same readings.
Thanks.
