Hey guys,
so I'm getting close to buying a new deluxe powerhead or powerhead system. I am planning on spending like 400 bucks on something to increase my flow as its only probably like maybe 20x. I might sell my three koralia 4s for a new system, I havent decided yet.
What kind of system would you guys put in if you had the choice? Give me some options to research! :)

I guess I'll give a little more info. My tank is a 165G DT, reef tank. Lots of sps and softies and everything, really.
Its a 6 foot tank and Im looking for a complete setup for it. I have three korallia 4s right now and then a pump that returns about 1000 GPH through four return lines. So about 4600 GPH right now, though the powerheads def arent doing their 1200 rated GPH as they could use a bit of a cleaning.

I'd put in a wavebox. If your setup will allow it there is nothing like it.

100% MP40W, nothing else comes close to the functions that they put out. If I were you I would keep the 2 K4's for that little extra bit of flow but between the 3 you should be good for any type of coral.

i like tunze stuff myself and the 6045 being adjustable up to 1350gph or something like that and being under $100 its a winner in my books. i have the 6055's and love them. than again i do like the vortech stuff

Vortech or Tunze - toss a coin. Either way you'll be happy.

I have An MP40 and 3 Tunze Turbelle with controllers. Both great powerheads, although I've had to replace the entire wet side of the MP40 and a few other washers and such, where as I've never touched the Tunze's expect for a little cleaning.
Just my thoughts.

I have a tunze 6055/single controller and a nano wavebox...
The wave box stands out as one of the most rewarding purchases I have ever made for my reef.
Eliminates detritus build up and creates an unparalleled swaying motion in the tank that I would be surprised if the vortechs could duplicate.
I think the 6055 is more comparable to the vortechs though the vortechs seem to offer more versatility over the Tunze's power/pulse adjustability.

Even with a single MP40W on my 6' I can still get a wave going, just have to set it properly using short/ long pulse mode. I was going to purchase a wave box until I saw this effect in person.

hmmm...
can you post a video?
I haven't seen an adequate wave (compared to the wavebox') from a vortech yet...
I played around with an mp40 on my friends 60 gallon for like an hour but couldn't figure it out...

It took me a little tweeking also, when I get home tonight I will try and do up a movie for you. Personally for me it was setting it to the long pulse mode and finding the exact power/ delay.
Tunzee would be my second in line though, I loved the one pump I used but they are a little bulky.

cool.
I'd try one out if I knew it was really that versatile....
How high would you say the wave is?
With my wave box, I get about a 1" wave with all my other flow on.
it's more like 1+1/2" with just the wave box on though...
50"X24"X18" tank...
