I bought a used 70G tank with center overflow... that is the pipe style drilled in back. I want to build an internal overflow box around it....

anyone have good ideas to do so... materials to use... sizes... etc.

If you could advise me of any sites that may have diagrams or what not that would also be appreciated. This is my first sump system:question:

An easy way might be to order one from bulkreefsupply http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/pumps-and-plumbing/plumbing-sumps-drill-bits-overflows-uniseals/overflow-boxes otherwise I would make one out of acrylic.

I used black acrylic and used silicone to attach it to the glass, I roughed the edge of the acrylic and siliconed both inside and outside seams.

My tank came drilled with a single overflow and two returns....

A friend suggested that I should have a second drain for "emergency purposes" in case the drain becomes plugged.

can anyone else shed some light on this.... if its absolutely necessary or ways around drilling another hole?

Use one of the return's as a second drain? Post a pic of the tank so we can get a better idea of what you are up against.

Posted above. Center overflow and two return... one each end.
