i've been using Coralife for the last 4 months with my main tank and 7months with my lil one. now i've always set my salinity around 1.022-.023... recently i lost couple of frags due to rtn so wth i bought a different hydrometer.. when i tested my water parameters both tanks were 1.025-1.026...
then earlier yesterday mixed couple of buckets of saltwater and the Coralife tested around 1.022 and the Seatest was around 1.026 umm which one should i base my reading on? time for refractometer?

Try borrowing a refractometer for a day if you can. Then you can compare it to your hydrometer.

I have a Coralife Deep Six hydrometer that reads 1.0245 consistently when a refractometer reads 1.026....so when my Deep Six reads 1.024 I know it's right where I want it.

I tested some water from a LFS when I got my new coral home and it was 1.029 with my seatest. My water tests 1.024. I call the store and they tested will I was on the phone, and they got 1.023. What do you trust if anything???

Agree with Mason.

Just make sure you test your hydrometer every 3 to 6 months.

Wendell, how are you suppose to test it?

Borrow a refractor from Ocean Aquatics.

Marty just brought up a good point, just bring it in on a Saturday or Sunday from 10am to 4pm and you can calibrate it yourself at the fishroom.
