Well I got a used chiller the other day that has not been used for about 4 months now, and they left the water in it . I know it was not used for a reef befor I got it, it was used for a green house. What is the best way to clean it now? I'm thinking about running clean water thru it till its clean and then used salt water from the tank. Is there something else that I can do or use?

Hi,

I think this is step to clean the chiller

1) Clean the air grill
2) Mix 3 gallon of fresh water plus 1 liter of vinegar. Then run a reverse flow through your chiller for 1 hour. And then another 30 minutes of 3 gallon of fresh water to flush out the vinegar.

Then you can plug your chiller into your aquarium

This is what i did with mine.

I am not sure if it is the samething for your chiller. You can look up the maintenance part on your chiller manual

thanks for the info I'm hoping to get it running befor I go back to work tommorrow. I got most ofthe nutrient rich water flushed from it now so i'll try running a water/vinger solution thru it now.
