Ok this has got to appeal to even the least nerdy among us. But for the extra nerdy .... I think I actually heard angels singing as I read the headline on this in my news feed this morning:

Haha, great find Tony! Reminds me of a Futurama episode "Robo Snail commencing 2 hour yipping session... "YIP" "YIP" "YIP"...

Amazing! Maintenance is just getting easier and easier. In 5 years there will be multiple ones on the market and they will be a staple in large tanks. I'd love to see it go around a corner though.
I could use a few of those.

Thats pretty cool.
I wonder how well it cleans corners?
Either way at least new technology is still coming out for the home aquariums

Great I'm sure you need one per pane of glass. Then the multicontroller.
I can't see the vid yet (on my phone) but it sounds intruiging for sure.

if you had 3 of them, one for every viewable pane of glass and you could set them at full speed, you'd have an automatic wavemaker as well..lol

Ok what is with the video? looks epileptic to me and not even real. Just my opinion but these won't clean the glass as well as I do and don't like to leave my magnet visible either and these sit on the glass all the time. Looks like there is also something mounted up high to mark the edge and top boundaries. If so that's even MORE ugly.
now if they had the SandRover detritus collector I'd maybe be impressed.

OMG! I need one of those. (Not really but I don't have one therefore it is a must have.)

Just think... if you had a pebble caught in one of those... all the pretty patterns it could carve in your glass.

I'm pretty sure Doofus would find a way to kill it....he tries very hard to kill my magfloat

When I think about how careful I need to be with even a high quality mag cleaner I just cant magine that this unit would be able to offer the same level of caution...
I already have a couple smal scratches here and there and thats with me being exceptionally attentive, never leaving my mag in the aquarium and always cleaning it prior to using it.
Seems like a good idea, but the technology would have to be pretty advanced for me to risk a display on it.

HEHE, I was thinking exactly the same thing
How do you stop it from touching your gravel.

Anyone know if it would work on 1" thick glass?

Ok, so am I the only one that thinks this thing would just dominate snails on the glass, corals that may be too close to the glass or bump rock piles that are too close to the glass and maybe cause a rock slide?
I love the idea, but is it safe from all these applications?

If its like the automatic house vacume, you set up laser parimeters of where you want it to clean too with laser boundaries.
Oooor im guessing it has a light sensor or something that can read off the reflection of the substrate or corners of the tank.
