Wow, what the ell is going on Brad!

How many NETS did you use for that!

Oh let me guess your having a frag sale

I sure hope disaster hasn't struck

cheers, Rich

Rich, no disaster. I got bored on Friday night and decided to remove my DSB. And although a frag sale wasn't planned, I do find my self with a ell of a lot more corals than I had 6 hours ago!! My largest table is now 6 or 7 smaller tables, green pocillipora all over the place, etc!!
I'm also stuck with the idea of adding eurobracing, but I have more tubs of rock and corals than I planned on and now I'm not sure I can wait for the silicone to set before I'll need to get everything back inheated moving water!!!

Brad,
That's a very sad thing to see  A tank with no water. Dont know how you can stand it. 24 hrs is a long time to wait

Are you removing your DSP because of all the talk of them failing or did it fail on you?

Well sounds like you have your work cut out for you Brad!

What's all this talk about DSB failing? I must have been snoozing, as I haven't heard anything along those lines.

As for the frag's, well I could make a trip over next weekend to lighten your load if you will still have them by then. You could give me a bulk discount

And why the euro bracing, just for some added strength or do you plan on not trimming back your colonies for awhile

Goodluck and I hope all goes well  Drop me a PM if you are interested in the above offer.

I heard somewhere that if you silicone in euro brace's that you are supposed to wait 72 hours for it to cure

cheers, Rich

Rich, it's possible that my sand problem stems from an open bucket off sand and my cat. Most of the sand is about 4.5 years old, so it's possible that the old sand syndrome hit me
I've been fighting some weird algae for a while on the sand, and just decided I'm tired of it. I'm putting more sand in, but only about an inch.

The eurobracing isn't going to happen; I didn't plan this well enough and I can't force my critters to suffer due to my poor planning. I'm just going to have to clean the center brace more diligently.
Now I have the task of filling the tank up. I have no idea how I'm going to fit everything back in.
And I'll have an official frag tank set up in the next few days, and should be able to give you an idea if and what is available!

It's incredible. I think the neighbours are going to complain soon!

Ona sad note, I lost my anthias overnight. Looks like the heater crapped out inthe holdig tank.

Jack

Whoa! Didn't see this comming Brad.

Getting rid of the centerbrace would of been cool! I guess you could do this all over again next weekend, right?

Too bad about the anthias though, that was a beauty.

A white sandbed is gonna look so good in that tank. You must be busy but update pics would be great.

So everythings in there, it's just a bit cloudy..?

Aquattro

nope, nothing is in yet. I'm trying to bring the temp up on the tank. It's half full and I want to match teh temp of the holding tanks. Almost there. As soon as i get the main pumps online, it'll clear up quickly.
Problem is getting all the stuff in there, becuase I'm using all the old water. I can't see anything to place the corals, and I can't put the rest of the water back in until I move the corals back.

Jack
10-25-2003, 11:53 PM
Did you buy brand new sand? Or wash the old stuff?

Sorry for all the questions

Jesse, sorry, just sarcasm. Yes, you should put heaters in sumps! Steve just noticed mine hanging inthe tank instead of the sump. This was due to not having the return pump going yet. Sorry for any confusion

Ya, I have a lot of pieces doing this right now. My large pink milli, a green table, I lost a blue stag, the blue milli above, acouple other smaller frags.
The renos took a bit more of a toll than I had anticipated. The temp dropped too low in the holding tank, and my rock went overnight with no heat or circulation. Pretty sloppy planning on my part really.

Really sorry to hear about your losses Brad, that really sucks

I hope the rest of the stuff bounces back o.k.

On kind of a brighter note, I guess you won't need to trim those monsters back for a few days now

Well, here is the "new look" one week after removing the sand. I still need to aquascape the right side, but this is the general idea. The sand still needs to be distributed around evenly.

And once again, sorry for your losses

Aquattro

Thanks Rich, it turned out better than I had expected. So far I haven't completely lost anything, although some pieces suffered heavily. I even found the yellow humilis that got "misplaced". My large table ended up in 7 pieces, and I only have one piece left. Hopefully it makes it.

Jon, it is packed for sure. Arranging things will be tough. The large orange cap is leaving soon, so that will open up some room.

Am I glad I did it? I think so. It will be a while before I'm sure my algae problems were due to the sand, but I think this was a good move. I'll post an update down the road a bit.

Brad,

If your making room by removing the orange cap, then I think the same needs to be done with the brown and gold cap, and I know just the person who will take it off your hands
