so i just had a custom tank built to a stand i have, there was an accident in the process of making it and had to be rebuilt, now ive taken it home and the tank sticks out about a inch and half on each side, is it ok to let it hang? its only about a 30g tank?

I don't think so, glass does not flex, it just cracks. Any way if you check out Kien's build he put a piece of countertop on his stand. If you structured the middle to support it even a piece of plywood would work.

Yeah if you're really worried put a matching piece of plywood underneath. just remember to coat it in some kind of waterproof to prevent rotting.

IMO a tank must be perfectly level and supported.
Your tank is not.

It could be level but it is definitely not fully supported. Those side panes of glass are just hanging off and supported by silicone! I'm sure it will hold but that is a heck of a lot of stress over time and i would personally lose sleep over it. As already mentioned, I too would recommend putting a flat rigid piece of wood underneath it. You can go cheap and get something at Rona/Home depot or go expensive and find something at ikea that looks fancy :-)

by the way, i noticed that your overflow box is made of fancy glass (rain drop etched?). Did you ask for that or did it come like that? it is actually neat looking!

I've seen it used by Elite Aquatics as well. In fact if you drop into the shop they have a few on display with that glass on the overflow box. I think they do it for effect. I don't mind it, looks kinda neat :-)

another option you could do is get some solid hemlock crown molding and attach it around the sides and front-it would give you 2 1/4 " all around and you could stain it to match it to your cabnet-cost about $3-$4 a foot

That tank was NOT build by Bow Valley Services.

Very good idea, be sure to attach with glue and screws.
