Just wondering everyone's thoughts on making a torch coral happy. I have on in my tank that doesn't seem to be happy all of a sudden. It's been closed up all day, whereas normally it's out

can you tell us anything about your tank?
-have you added anything or done something different?
-what are you params?

actually, I have no idea what my parameters are...I take my water into the store, they tested it for me, and it came out clean.
Everything was good until today, just the torch was deflated looking. It still has it's color, but it just won't come out to play. :(

Did the "store" give you your parameter numbers or did they just say it was "clean"??? Real numbers would help.

My torch is sensative to low magnesium, he almost tells me when I need to dose.

I found mine to be unhappy with high magnesium as well.

Oooo...came home this morning to a dead torch...Thanks for all the tips. Think i'm going to have to invest in that test kit this week end. ;)
How long have you had the torch? What do you have for fish? As Coleus suggested, one of them may have picked at it to death
I would hope that any LFS that you bring water to would be truthful about your water parameters.. If anything was out of wack they should have said something so I would almost give them the benefit of the doubt, but that might just be me being naive? You should still get yourself a set of test kits though.

Thanks Kien, we've only had the torch for a week. Fish are Orange spot goby, firefish, dottyback, and cleaner wrasse, and have 2 cleaner shrimp.
it's sad, it was a nice torch too. It seemed completely happy until yesterday. All the other corals are doing really good, even the ones that the cleaner shrimp are walking all over! :P
Anywho, ya, test kit is going to have to be a must I guess.
