so i just started my tank about a week ago and i added the live sand on the first day. however i didnt have any rock yet. a few days later i was able to purchase some rock and i've put in about 40 lbs all together. i was wondering how long it would take to get the cycling process going? its been almost a week since i started. should i add a damsel or some raw cocktail shrimp?

or is it because i introduced cured LR? i read somewhere that if you put in your cured LR then you don't have to cycle your tank...
also i purchased the LR for a LFS so there wasn't much time for die off

it should start soon if there is some dead critters in the rocks.

you may want to add something that would produce waste. I prefer the raw cocktail shrimp over a fish. The decay of the shrimp will cause an the nitrogen cycle to start
