I just looking for opinions. I have a nano wave box now, but was wondering if a Vortech pump, could be used to the same effect. The wave box takes up space in a corner of the tank. (big black unsightly thing). Doug

72 gallons. The wave box, is a nano. The vortech i was looking at was a MP20

i am doubtful a mp20 would make a wave like a wavebox in a 70 gallon it is all on positioning tho

The MP20 is too small to make decent waves in a 72 gallon. Invest in the MP40W.
I personally like the Tunze wavebox over the MP40 because I find the waves a lot smoother and love the sound of the water shooting down the top vent. Reminds me of the ocean.

Go with the vortek, its like the most expensive toy you can buy for your reef (Well atleast for flow). When you initially get one you sit there for like 40 mins just testing all the functions, there really allot of fun.

if you really want waves, get 2 vortech mp40s opposing each other. Wow

Get the Vortech, the wavebox does zero in aiding detritus removal.

I have a Mp40 on my 75gal and it's awsome. I only have it cranked half speed and I get a good wave effect. Worth the money imo.
