Anybody using the Phoenix 14K.Can you comment on the color and growth of your corals. Time for new bulbs and thinking of trying them out. I like to supplement with VHO actinics, but will this make the tank look too blue. I don't like the Windex look.

Was also considering the Hamilton 14K DE

I run the Phoenix 14K and I love them. Just the right amount of blue IMO. I don't run
supplement lighting. Now that I have a 48" mogul fixture I'm a little sad!! Corals did well
on the Phoenix as well,I've noticed growth in all my frags. I don't do SPS,just softies.

I'm a fan. You can check out my built thread, all I've used on that tank are 2 250W phoenix bulbs. I wouldn't say they are growing bulbs but certainly the best of both (growth+color)

No need for actinic when running 14000k Phoenix, Hamiltons or Aquaconnects.

From all the 14K's DE I've, tried (Phoenix, Ushio and Hamilton) found the Phoenix to be the most blue/purple. Can't say I noticed that much different in growth.

Last picture in this link (http://canreef.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=50851) gives a fairly close picture to how they appear to the eye on my tank with T5 actinics.

On the last page there is two pics, one a full tank shot. What bulbs in those pics, Phoenix?. Looks more white than blue, but I like it.

I am running them and can say they are very good quality. Nice consistant color.

I find the 150DE are fairly blue running on magnetic ballast.
The 250's are more white on electronic ballasts compared to more blue on coralife magnetic ballasts.
I think they are great lights with good balance of white/blue

I love my Phoenix 14K on A Bluewave Dual M80 ballast. The ballast is Huge, but gives off awesome color and brightness. Anlo not alot of heat for being 2 mag ballasts, I was supprised

Nearly all of the pictures of my tank in the link in my signature are under 250W 14K DE Phoenix bulbs. I do get good growth for much of what I have but I attribute that to water chemisty more than lighting.

I am running the 250w on a Lumatek ballast and I love it. Never ran actinics with any of my Phoenix bulb tanks. I have a few pictures in my thread.

Well I picked up a Phoenix today to test. Can't say i really like it, just too blue for me. I prefer a crisp white with a tint of blue. I find it also tends to wash out the reds and pinks. Think I will return for a XM10K and add my VHO actinic's to supplement.

Or are the Hamilton's less blue.

Give it a few days to burn in.
