Over the next few weeks I will be upgrading from my standard 120 gal to a 5ft 120 gal tank which I purchased of a fellow canreefer. I really like my 120 but find myself restricted with what I can do and what fish I can keep. I plan on moving all my equipment over to the new tank and also adding a few goodies:biggrin: I am currently finishing the stand at my warehouse and planning on bringing it home on the weekend to do some final touches and plumbing by the end of next week. I have been cooking my current live rock for about 2 weeks now to get rid of some cyano issues I was dealing with and over the last few weeks I have also been cherry picking some nice peices of dry rock that is being also cooked. The new tank will have only 2 veiwable panels because it is side drilled. this will actually work very well for me as I can place the tank closer to the wall(space matters in our townhouse lol) I will post a pic of my current tank and a few of the new one. Reccomendations are welcome:mrgreen:
Cheers
Ray

So its been a while since I have updated this thread lol The tank has been up and running for 2 months now. I have slowly been piecing it together and I am very happy so far. I made a lot of mistakes with my first set up and made sure that they wouldn't happen with this tank. My maintenance on this tank is about 50% less than on my old tank which gives me way more time to enjoy it :) I ended up drilling another hole in my tank and going with a herbie overflow. My tank is almost completly silent and find the herbie very east to tune. I also ended up going with 100% dry rock instead of my old live rock. There was nothing wrong with my old LR I just thought new tank=new rock lol I ended up seeding it in my old 120 for about 8 weeks before moving it into the new tank. I have been very lucky and have not had any algae blooms or any cycle problems since I started the new tank. the only problems I have had was getting my kh, cal and mag all in check. I will post a livestock and hardware list below and get some picture up in the next day or 2:mrgreen: Gotta Give a Shout out to Viper901 all the help and Ian at Oceanic Corals for answering all my PM's and helping me get this tank up and running!
Cheers

Thanks Christy! The light is a little whiter in person. I am actually building another light for this tank. I going with a couple pendants with some XM 10k mogul bulbs and a couple led strip lights for actinics for a grow out period for my frags and then switch over to radium bulbs once they are colonies.

Thanks Leah! The emporer has been great except he went right for my zoas and LPS when I added him to the tank. The zoas and LPSare now in my sump and look happy lol He hasnt touched my sps which Im really happy with:biggrin:
Good to hear about your angel. Debating whether I should move mine into my 120 or not. Hoping my SPS's will grow a bit, otherwise they will make some tasty expensive snacks.

What kind of angel do you have? All my SPS are al still little frag but maybe when they get bigger they might be more tempting to him lol
 Never thought of that. It is a Chrysurus Angel...my baby.

I have no idea about those angels at all:sad: Its reef warnings are the same as an emporer. They will nip and LPS zoas clams but seem to be ok with SPS. Its all up to you... I was willing to take the risky and was lucky but who knows what yours will do. Flip a coin lol

Over the past week my herbie and skimmer decided to a little crazy. I could not seem to match my flow with my herbie which I found weird because I have not adjusted anything. My skimmer decided after 4 months that it didnt want to run in 8" of water anymore. It overflowed for about 3 days until I raised it up 2" and not its skimming great again hmmmmm.
Im gonna startt on my lighting upgrade in the next week. I decided on 2x 400/250w switchable Lumentek E ballasts and Im currently trying to find some good reflectors. Right now its between the Lumenarc mini's and the Lumenbrite minis
