I have a question about the time stamp that says when I visited the site last. I've noticed that sometimes it says I've been on the site when I haven't. Is there a glitch or is someone logging in under my name?

Thanks

Did you get an answer on that Mike? Was wondering the same thing?

The timestamp is in UTC.

No not yet, and the other weird thing is that if I view the site as a guest it says that this thread was started at 4:23 PM and if I'm logged in it says 9:23 AM (which is correct). Also if I view as a guest your response says Yesterday at 11:31 PM but if I'm logged in it says Today at 4:31 PM.:question::question:

Mine was at 4:31pm, not 11:31 pm.

If you are viewing as a guest you are seeing all time stamps with respect to the web server/forums local time setting (which appears to be GMT(0)), which may or may not be (likely not) in the same time zone as you :-) Calgary is GMT-7 btw.

When you log in it picks up your timezone setting and adjusts all times to be within your time zone so they appear correct.

OK. My mistake. It is not UTC. The server that holds this website is at a location 16 hours ahead of Canada/Pacific. I bet it is in Hong Kong.

The reason why 'if I view the site as a guest it says that this thread was started at 4:23 PM and if I'm logged in it says 9:23 AM (which is correct). ' is that ...

When you created the thread, the time '2010-02-25_15:31' was stamped onto your thread. (It was 2010-02-24_23:31 in HK)

When you view the thread as owner, it shows the timestamp of your thread.

When you view as a guest, since the server doesn't know where your timezone is, it simply shows the server's time.

I don't know what to tell you Mike. Your settings currently are set for your time zone. As for your logins happening when you're not on, perhaps you share a computer and someone else is browsing canreef?

This is what I was thinking but I wanted to ask if there was a known glitch on the site anyway. The GMT stuff makes complete sense (good explanation kein).

Thanks
