i decided to do another tank build. i had one a couple of years ago in Victoria BC, it was just a 40gal with hang on protien skimmer. Really enjoyed it but left it in Victoria when i moved to Saskatchewan.
so this time i went bigger it is a 90gal with a 40gal sump custom made by a reef tank enthusiest j_hammer (who is a member on this site) with out his help i would have been lost.... thanx j_hammer!!!!!!!!!
i looked all over for a stand and never realy found one i liked and they all had center braces that would not work with the sump underneath. so i decided it would be a good idea to try to build one. what a pain in the #$@. i am a welder so i welded a stand out of square tubing and screwed plywood to it then coverded the plywood in oak and stained it and clearcoated it.
got 160 pounds of live rock from a tank that was being taken down, got some really nice pieces.

equipment list.
-concept aquairium 90gal tank drilled.
-40gal custom made sump with refugium
-supreme 950 gph pump
-vertex in sump protien skimmer
-2 tunze power heads (660 gal/hr+1189gal/hr)
-tech 5, 6 bulb light fixture( 3 blue 3 white)
- two 300 amp titanium heaters

I am sure i am forgettin some stuff but i think that is the major stuff.

here are some pics.

so the tank has been up and going for ten days now. we have been checking water quality every couple of days. and nothing has changed.
0 nitrate
0 nitrite
0 ammonia
8.2-8.4 ph
1.025 salinity
79.6 temp

there is a bit of reddish brown growth on the sand bed and a bit on one of the power heads. and there is also a bit of green stringy algea on teh bottom inch of the glass where i cant reach with the mag cleaner.

does this sound good? normall? keep in mind all the rock came from dareef guys established tank.

is it time for some live stock?
